UK Supplier Centrica Appoints Next Chair

UK energy company, Centrica, has appointed Charles Berry as a director and chairman designate, effective October 31; he will become chairman February 21, 2019. He will succeed Rick Haythornthwaite who leaves the day before, following some six years with the company.

Berry is chairman of international engineering group Weir and has previously held chairman roles at Drax and others, plus executive roles at Scottish Power where he was responsible for power generation, commodity trading, energy retailing and renewable energy in the UK, together with board responsibility for energy regulation. He began his career as an engineer at major UK energy user Pilkington.
