Stock & Land: Vic agrees to tighter gas rules

VICTORIA has signed up to national rules covering coal seam and other unconventional gas industries in a bid to head off concerns in regional areas over the growing sector.

Premier Ted Baillieu yesterday signed the National Partnership Agreement on Coal Seam Gas hatched between the federal, Queensland, NSW and South Australian governments in February. 

Victoria will also create a ministerial advisory council to give industry and community groups direct access to the government to express their views, The Australian Financial Review reports.  MORE
